Noises Off
December, 1995
Chamber Hall, Anderson Center, Binghamton University, Harpur College, State University of New York; Binghamton, New York, United States
John Simon, widely regarded as one of New York theater's severest critics, wrote that "Noises Off" was "as sidesplitting a farce as I have ever seen. EVER? Yes, EVER!!!" This long-running London and Broadway smash hit is a double barreled comedy, a farce about a farce - or actually, a farce about putting on a farce. A third-string British stock company is rehearsing and performing a play called "Nothing On," but their miscues and mishaps on-stage and their interlocking and petty affairs backstage produce as much hilarity as the comedy they are attempting to interpret.
