In her series of works entitled Rocks and Water, Julia Elizabeth Tolbert focuses on the relationship between these two natural elements. To establish compositional unity, she weaves directional lines in a geometric fashion, as she sees the water move. Her choice in a color scheme of blue, gray, and green works to demonstrate the solidity of the rocks with the movement of the water. (Julie Woodson, Class of 2018)
