Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Aline Barnsdall Residence, also known as the 'Hollyhock House,' in 1917, and building continued for four years. In 1927, Barnsdall donated the house, two studios and 11 surrounding acres on Hollywood Boulevard to the city of Los Angeles, California. 'S tudio Residence A reveals some imprint of R. M. Schindler, who supervised its construction, then went on to fame of his own in southern California. It is now used as a classroom-studio space by the Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department.'
