Shown here are the Museum of Art student interns who graduate in May 2016 (left to right): Abigail Mahoney '16; Jamie Denton '16; Sophia Namara '16; Julian Huertas '16; and Frannie Gurzenda '16. Abigail Mahoney and Frannie Gurzenda were Education Assistants at the Museum. In addition, Abigail researched and wrote labels for the "Miss Rumphius" illustrations that were part of the "Barbara Cooney: Drawing Biography" exhibition. After graduation she will join Teach for America and work as a high school biology teacher in Miami. Frannie worked closely with the Museum's co-director Frank Goodyear to curate the Fall 2015 exhibition "Dissent in 1960s America: The Photography of Ken Thompson." This summer she will intern in the Department of Painting and Sculpture at the National Portrait Gallery In Washington, D.C. Jamie Denton worked as a Curatorial Assistant for Joachim Homann, helping to survey the Museum's drawing collection in preparation for a major exhibition in 2017. Jamie will work as a buying coordinator for Bloomingdale's in New York City. Julian Huertas assisted the Museum's co-director Anne Collins Goodyear in preparing the Summer 2016 exhibition "This Is a Portrait If I Say So: Identity in American Art, 1912 to the Present." He will work in Boston for the National Park Service's Olmstead Center for Landscape Preservation. Sophia Namara has been the Museum's Communications Assistant and was instrumental in developing the Museum's use of social media in publicizing exhibitions and programs. Sophia will become an Operations Associate at Beepi in San Francisco, a start-up business in online automobile sales.
