Description
One of the great masters of photography, Paul Strand died in March 1976 at the age of eighty-five. This exhibition presents seventy photographs, many shown for the first time. The earliest work, rediscovered in 1974, reflects Strand's first explorations through camera work, picturing themes which were to develop and expand with demanding coherence and exactness. The garden images, made on his doorstep within a few feet of his home at Orgeval, suggest the crystallization of a flawless vision. --From exhibition announcement/invitation
