David Rogers graduated from CUMC in 1948. He returned to the medical center as a postdoctoral fellow with the US Public Health Service at NYH in 1950. He was the chief resident at the NYH in 1951-1952. In 1954, he joined the faculty/staff as an assistant professor of medicine/assistant attending physician. From 1954-1959, he was the division head for Infectious Diseases. He rose to the associate level in 1956. In 1959, he left to chair the Department of Medicine at Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. Later he was the dean of Johns Hopkins Medical School. He returned in 1987 as the Walsh McDermott University Distinguished Professor of Medicine and stayed until his death in 1994.
