Description
Haiku book 1 is a collection of eight of Helmes's visual poems. The poems are collages consisting of torn-out and cut-up fragments of pages from magazines, arranged in three lines, like traditional haiku. The magazine fragments all feature text that has been rendered nearly or completely illegible in the process. The final poem of the sequence also includes hand-drawn lines in different color inks connecting the poem's constituent fragments.
