Description
Sagamore was the culmination of William West Durant's camp-building career. He was forced to sell it in 1901, and the camp was purchased by by Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt.The National Humanistic Education Center (now the Sagamore Institute of the Adirondacks) was formed to buy and preserve the 7.5 acre estate in 1975.
