Title
Hadley Bow Bridge
Exterior
Work Type
bridges (built works)
Date
1885
Location
Old Corinth Road at Sacandaga River
Lake Luzerne, Warren, New York, United States
Description
The first bridge at this location dates to 1813. After burning in 1885, the current structure was erected, with a two-span, wrought-iron structure with a parabolic (or lenticular truss). The bridge is the only remaining example of three such structures known to have been erected in the United States with the deck at mid-height of the trusses, an arrangement that added lateral stiffness and precluded end posts at the portals.
