Description
On October 15, 1969 students and faculty boycotted classes in order to focus on demonstrations against the Vietnam War. Around a thousand people attended an afternoon rally at Coburn Park in Waterville, where students marched from campus, carrying a mock coffin draped in a flag. Two Colby students read aloud the names of those who lost their lives in Vietnam, and students and faculty gathered in local churches for a "sympathy vigil." (Smith 173). sign: "end the war now"
