The building's official address is 899 10th Avenue. It first housed Dewitt Clinton High School (ca. 1906-1929); then Haaren High School (ca. 1929-1986); then Haaren Hall of the John Jay College of Criminal Justice (ca. 1986 to present).The Hell's Kitchen area of New York City (also known as the Clinton neighborhood or Midtown West) runs between 34th-59th Streets, and from 8th Avenue to the Hudson River. This image was probably taken for her Cities thesis "Sense of Ethnicity among Third Generation Irish-Americans in a New York City Neighborhood".
