Crystal Simms was born in 1949, grew up in the New London Road community in Newark, Delaware, and attended the University of Delaware. In this interview, she talks about her childhood, educational desegregation, attending the University of Delaware, racial attitudes and demographics on campus, the founding of the Black Faculty-Student Coalition (now the UDAAC), protesting and activist activity on campus and in Washington, D.C., her career at the University of Delaware, and compares the University of Delaware and Delaware Technical Community College, where she was an English instructor. Interviewed by Julia Manson on Zoom, running time 52 minutes, 21 seconds.
