Richard Matthews grew up in Newark and attended the University of Delaware before being drafted into the U.S. Air Force in 1971 without finishing his degree. In this interview, Matthews talks about his childhood, his time at the University of Delaware, his Air Force career, political activism while at student at UD, employment opportunities in Newark, the relationship between the University and Newark, and the New London Road community.
