Description

Fine lace frills adorn the bodice, neck and wrists of this gown, while rows of ruffles add a feminine touch to its skirt and sleeves.

The distinction between underwear and outwear was blurred in the 1900s as fashion erupted in a froth of frills, adorning everyday clothes and accessories. Ruffled edges and surface areas emerged as fashionable details, adding delicacy, contrasting texture, and volume to outfits everywhere.
