This afternoon dress, consisting of bodice and skirt, is made from rose pink brocade (oriental style leaf motif). Bodice has a round neck, is boned, has long sleeves. There is a black scalloped lace trim on the sleeves and along the front clasps. Skirt has two small darts at the hem on both front and back. Piece added in back of skirt. Front has a black lace panel running vertically from waist to hem.

Bodice is secured at centre front with 23 concealed hook and eye. Suared paels extending from the shoulder line of the bodice over the top of the sleeve, concealing where the lace is attached at top of sleeve. These may have been a later addition. Skirt centre front lace panel is made up of tiers of lace 250mm wide. This may have been a later addition with the original central panel fabric removed. Bodice and skirt both in sound condition. Skirt has multiple foxing marks and frayed edge at parts of hemline. Bodice has sweat marking under arms.

A label, stitched to the internal waistband reads: '16, Upper George St, Bryanston Square, W.', which is in Marylebone, London.
