View across the Walker Gallery on the upper level of the Walker Art Building on October 24, 2019 during a presentation entitled "From the Court at Nimrud to the Halls of Bowdoin: Assyrian Art and its American Receptions." James Higginbotham, associate professor of classics and associate curator for the ancient collection, and Sean P. Burrus, Andrew W. Mellon postdoctoral curatorial fellow, discussed Bowdoin's Assyrian reliefs, their long journey to the Museum, and their ancient and modern contexts in the Northwest Palace at Nimrud. This discussion was presented in conjunction with the opening of the exhibition "Assyria to America," shown in the Walker Gallery from October 24, 2019 through December 13, 2020. The doorway leads to the Assyrian Gallery. Visible on the glass wall is the color image projected onto one of the Assyrian reliefs.
