Description
Earthenware measure, glazed, introduced by W. Proctor and Son in 1877, English
W Proctor and Son, chemists, introduced this type of medicine measure (in the centre) equivalent to one dessertspoonful in 1877. Household cutlery varied widely in shape and size so it was better to use a device like this to measure medicine. The four measures (all invented by Proctor and Son) could have been found in medicine chests of the day. It is shown here with similar medicine measures (A608448, A626204, A626208, A626209).
