France, Sinceny, 18th century
Tin- glazed earthenware (faience) wth enamel decoration
Overall: 17.2 x 26.9 x 17.8 cm (6 3/4 x 10 9/16 x 7 in.)
The faience factory at Sinceny was an offshoot of that at Rouen. In style, Sinceny closely resembles later Rouen wares with polychrome decoration. The stylized flowers and insects which decorate this writing stand are entirely typical of Sinceny faience.
