Dear Mr. Wagner
I guess I should have sent the address
before, but believe me, time for even short letters
from this place is hard to find.
It is a grand place, though if you've never
seen this campus and all of us are admitted
to home football games free- that's how we saw
Stanford- Notre Dame last Saturday. But it
was a disappointing game- I've seen a lot of
Berg games better played. And I've noticed
our boys are really playing ball this season
if that Gettysburg score is any indication.
Notre Dame had officially been made a
Midshipman's school and in reality (though
classed as Apprentice Seaman) we are now
getting some Midshipman subjects- Math in
particular. So if all goes well (fingers crossed
and all that) I'll be here for the full
four months- that should save you a bit of
address changing.
Incidentally, what is being done this term
to send the Weekly to men in the service?
If all goes as scheduled I should easily find
sufficient time to keep up with my class
correspondence- if any of the class ever can.
decide to drop their Correspondent a line.
And when you see Dr. Tyson again
You can add to his pleasure by telling him I
won't be bothering him for a time since leaves
don't allow my coming home again before I'm
Commissioned- Not that I thought him serious
when he mentioned the fact.
By the way, did Koehler tell you as he
wrote me that Gordon Williams (P.K.T.)'40(?)
is also an Ensign?
That's the score from here, but I will
remain in Contact with you.
Sincerely,
Wilmer H Cressman '42
